Workshop Acting in English (Sept. 30 to Oct. 3. 2010)

. . .“ School English is not enough. During the casting of Pope Joan, if I heard a German accent when an actor spoke, I knew it would be a problem for the US or UK production people. Actors need to keep training and improving their skills, like a musician or dancer.". . .

Anja Dihrberg, Casting Director

More and more Hollywood productions are being produced in Europe (Germany, Italy, France, UK) and they need to cast local actors for roles.

Are you fit enough with your English to compete for such a role? If you’re not sure, then please read on.

Holy Ghosts, July 16th and 17th

"only connect!" English Theater Performance, University of Duisburg-Essen, Campus Essen

presents their latest production:

American Playwright Romulus Linney's play

"Holy Ghosts"

Seeking to retrieve his runaway wife (and the possessions she has taken with her), Coleman Shedman arrives at the rural meeting house of a southern pentecostal sect with a lawyer in tow. But his wife, Nancy, is unwilling to forsake the love and protection of her new "husband", the Reverend Obediah Buckhorn, and return to the brutal, hard-drinking Coleman. And when the strapping Reverend Buckhorn himself arrives, it is quickly evident that Coleman will not be able to take her back by force. Rich with atmosphere and the feel of southern rural life, the play blends humor and poignancy as it probes into the circumstances and stories of the various cult members, culminating in a gripping snake-handling scene and a surprise ending.
The play is an American gem cut out of the spirit of mountain people - funny and deeply moving...
