Workshop Acting in English (Sept. 30 to Oct. 3. 2010)

More and more Hollywood productions are being produced in Europe (Germany, Italy, France, UK) and they need to cast local actors for roles.

Kathleen Renish is an American actress / singer / voice over artist who has been living in Germany for the past 20 years. She knows what a challenge it is to act in a foreign language and how difficult it is to get work in another language other than ones own native language of English. Even some basic problems like not understanding the film vocabulary can cause many sleepless nights or embarrassing moments on the set.


Kathleen has been teaching and coaching German actors and business people how to improve their English for their jobs whether it be giving presentations in English, participating in English castings, speaking with clients about new products or services, or actually playing a character in a film in English.

The 4-day “Acting in English” workshop will offer you the following:
  • Determine the challenges or problems that you have speaking English
  • Will focus on specific pronunciation exercises
  • Improvisation in English
  • Casting interview in English
  • Cold reading English text
  • Monologue / Dialogues in English (if you need a source for film scripts, please go to http://www.script-o-rama.com Just click on the picture of the car and then on film scripts A-C or D-J etc. they are alphabetically sorted. A good book is 99 Film Scenes for Actors)
  • Tips for learning English texts FAST
  • Suggestions of English learning programs (dvd’s/sticks) for continued language development
  • Tips for writing your CV / Resume’ in English
  • Glossary of film terms English / German
  • Relaxation & Voice Technique Tips
  • 30 MINUTES OF PRIVATE TRAINING EITHER VIRTUAL OR LIVE AFTER THE WORKSHOP.

All the exercises will be filmed and a DVD will be given to each participant after the workshop.
